Governance Forum) est une réunion annuelle, organisée dans différents
pays, avec la participation des gouvernements, du secteur privé et de
la société civile. Il a été fondé lors du Sommet Mondial de la Société de l'Information (WSIS) des Nations Unies et suite au Groupe de Travail sur la Gouvernance Internet (WGIG). L'IGF
n'est pas un organisme décideur ; il a été établi pour instaurer un
lieu de débat, avec une forte demande pour l'implication et la
participation de multiples protagonistes sous l'égide des Nations
Unies. L'IGF a lieui cette année, du 14 au 17 septembre, à Vilnius, Lituanie. ============================================================== Workshop Number : 148 Concise Description : We
will address and discuss core Open Source issues for sustainable
development and governance and its impact on the key areas listed
below. We will also give a quick overview of the workshop held at
IGF2009 on “Mitigating the Financial Crisis With Open Source
Applications” to ensure continuity and progression with related
workshops. We
will explore OS for sustainable development and governance and its
impact in the following key significant areas for the African Region and
Developing Nations: - Health: The impact of OS in health. What best practices exist and what are the lessons for Africa? How can we implement these? Concrete steps and policy recommendations. - Education: FOSS teaching materials exist but there is a lack of knowledge and only few are aware of them, therefore, we would like to address the issue of increasing awareness to the Education Sector about OS tools. - Governance and Standards: OS Standards and what is means for our standard bodies in Africa, a reflection on advocacy issues that surround this and how some standards processes can improve with more transparency.
